Esports performance is not just winning or losing a game in fact there are many factors in order to optimize your play, potential and perform consistently to be and become the best. Hard work, dedication and sacrifices are in fact necessary to meet all the factors on a solid level. For an optimal esports performance there are many skills, habits and attitudes necessary to compete with the best. Some of those factors are obvious, others are not. We talk about essential parts of esports performance.

  • Technical skills: Esports athletes need to have a high level of proficiency in the game or games they compete in. This includes knowledge of the game’s mechanics, strategies, and meta (current trends and techniques used in the game).
  • Game IQ: The ability to make quick decisions based on the current situation in the game, to predict what opponents will do, and to take advantage of opportunities as they arise.
  • Physical fitness and health: Esports athletes often spend many hours sitting in front of a computer, which can lead to problems such as back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and poor posture. Maintaining good physical health through exercise, stretching and proper ergonomics is important for preventing injuries and improving performance.
  • Mental and emotional control: Esports athletes need to be able to perform under pressure and maintain a high level of focus and concentration for long periods of time. This requires good emotional and mental control, as well as the ability to manage stress.
  • Teamwork and communication: In most games, teamwork and communication are essential for success. Esports athletes need to be able to work effectively with their teammates and communicate effectively to coordinate strategies and execute plays.
  • Nutrition, Sleep, and Recovery: Having good nutrition, sufficient sleep and time for recovery can help improve overall performance. Gaming for long hours can take a toll on the body and mind, thus it’s important to focus on recovery and rest.
  • Adaptability: Esports are constantly evolving and it’s important for the athlete to be able to adapt to new strategies, metas, and changes in the game.

Overall : Each esports title have different requirements, some games require more fast reflexes, some games require more strategic thinking and map awareness, depending on the game it’s important for the athletes to focus on the aspects that are most important for that specific game.
